PLEASE READ

Your phone needs to be rooted in order to flash custom roms. Watch my other how tos if you need root.

I take no responsibility for any problems with your phone after watching this video.

Important Note about wiping data / cache:
This is only really necessary when you install a rom that is very different from your current rom. For example, if I'm running das bamf 1.5, and I am going to install das bamf 1.6.3. There is no need to wipe data / cache. However, if after installing a rom that you didn't wipe data, you experience weird behavior, that is most likely due to not wiping data. Having said all this, if the dev of the rom you are going to flash insists you wipe data, then do it.

To backup yout apps / data, use either MyBackup Root, or Titanium Backup from the market, both free

Here is a list of roms I put together:

  • nate, is MyBackup Root or Titanium Backup better than ROM Manager for backup? also, are there any tricks to a better backup (like moving all apps to SD, or anything like that). i want the easiest path to switching between ROMs if i have to (especially at the the beginning as i explore different ROMs). thanks man.

  • @zeiss74 they make different kinds of backups. rom manager makes an entire clone of your system, those others just backup ur apps and data. both are essential.

the easiest way is to use mybackup root to backup apps, and rom manager to backup ur rom incase you want to go back

  • @jeovanny if it's a zip it should show up. Make sure u didn't extract it

  • @xxsignal1xx yeah, u do the flashing on the phone so it doesn't matter what computer u download the rom on

  • @jeovanny on my blog that stock rooted rom is not the newest. Radios don't change when switching roms as that is firmware not software like the rom. So if u flash a new rom, u will keep ur new radio

  • @jeovanny yes u should always make a backup before removing bloatware. It's easier to just flash a custom rom that is already debloated

  • @nat3mil cool thanks alot for that info. I tried to flash a rom I found with the latest software I loaded it into my sd card and look for it through rom manager and it wont come up not even through recovery its zip format any suggestions?

  • Can u do all the flash roms from a imac after the phone is rooted

  • Q# 2

I had to downgrade my phone in order to root, I got the new radio in thats a PLUS I do see the difference. Anyways I see on your thunderbolt ROM list that their is an OEM version wich im sure is rooted already and has bloatware off. My concern is, is it the latests firmware out? you know since I had to downgrade, also does it have the new radio (without it I hardly get 4G)

If I were to choose any of the roms out their does a specific radio come installed or do I have 2 instal the 1 I want

  • OK I have a few questions and concerns first one is.

    1. I have my phone downgraded and rooted, I want to remove bloatware will this speed up my phone?

Also im sure this will free up more space for me right?

What are the risk factors of removing OEM bloatware?

If I make a backup of my current state with ROM MANAGER if something were to happen can I refer to that go get back to how it was before erasing bloatware as oposed to backing up bloatware wich I read doesnt always work anyways.
