  • All of you are correct who have caught my mistake in calling it 32nd notes when I am clearly not playing them. I will have to revise the video and correct this mistake. I glad you have caught this mistake because it shows you are paying attention. Good job!

  • Okay I have yet to find out what it's called but I've noticed everyone does it. Even in this video he does it. His is initial downstroke starts high but he doesn't bring his arm back up for the second hit. From there it's just rinse and repeat. Is there an actual name for this technique and should I be doing it regardless of hitting a snare cymbal or tom while playing?

  • you're using too much energy and also ruining your technique by using these plastic trampolines.

  • This is not Moeller... not even close. You're using your fingers that's all. The 8th notes that you start with, you are using Moeller there; but when you switch to "16th notes" you are using fingers. Moeller is a powerful whipping motion that harnesses the bounce of the drum and doesn't rely on fingers at all.

  • In moeller technique your fingers are not used. If you are using your fingers, its not moeller technique. You use the natural whipping motion of your hand to generate enough power for 3 strokes(including the initial stroke) when doing the 3 stroke roll. GEt your technique right and practice. Good luck.

  • those are closer to sextuplets than 32nd notes, altho i think you only did 5, rather than 6, beats.
