I don't know if this song really shows Morrissey as a racist....but the last lyrics are pretty crazy ... I write it off as Morrissey singing in other points of view and being ironic.
Dear Morrissey: From the down trodden, we are not smashed, beaten or broken..We are here and alive and kicking...we thank you for that. Best to you and yours...always Molly xoxo
Im sure moz said at one point this was his favorite song. A lot of people put down the world of Morrissey album but I think the songs it gathers together are tually quite brilliant. It may be because it was the first compilation of his I ever bought but nothing else sounds the same.
I find it a happy song, a song for the people, not for the establishment, who says that the people should be subordinate, who think the people are loneley and unhappy if they do not do things their way. In the last line he calls out the people as the true britains, as opposed to the government.

Seen him live three times but never this song. I think this is such an under-rated song.
Soon be four times though so here's hoping he pops it in. Thanks for sharing

His voice is so intense, it makes me weak at the knees. I wonder how much it costs for a solo concert?
