Since AL Vanick isnt anouncing anymore what is the current noon open?

The Morning newscasts over here are more "infotainment", but from Noon to the 11 PM news, it's more like the CBS Evening News, or the NBC Nightly News. The opens and rejoins aren't though "downplayed", they're all like that.

Well you could say that, but we're used to it and I think the British public would hate US style news because it is so glamourised (note the UK English spelling!!!) and is made out more like a tabloid style entertainment show than a more serious "broadsheet" journal.

USA local news is soooo different to the UK local news. We only have two networks that broadcast local news. Your newscasters are made out as real celebrities. Our newscasters all present themselves like university lecturers and I guess are, well "British". If you're interested check out a few British local newscasts. Say check out say BBC North West Tonight (Manchester), Central Tonight (Birmingham), Wales Tonight or BBC London News.
