LCD display problems are quite common. Sometimes a can of freeze spray can save your hours of unnecessary troubleshooting as shown in this video. The TV shown in this video is a Sony KDL32L4000

  • I can't guess at what went wrong.

  • Can repair? Before when I turn on about in 15 mins it will go away as back normal. Then few months sometime it take longer like 15 to 45 to go away. But til yesterday it won't go away anymore.

  • @craxycadillac81 I doubt you can repair this kind of problem if it's the same as what I'm showing.

Some people have been able to repair problems like this by jaming rubber between the frame and the LCD display but it's probably a temporary repair.

  • Need your help. There is something wrong with my tv. You can see half display are fine but other side kind dark it won't go away. Is any else can fix and is it cost lot or what?

  • @craxycadillac81 It could be a burnt out back light or a defective output transistor or transformer on the inverter board.

  • hi good day what does the freeze spray do to the connections to make it react

  • @turnercarl When an electrical connection is cold it has less resistance but I'm not sure if this accounts for my freeze spray correcting the problem. I know when matter gets hot it expands and when it gets cold it tends to shrink so perhaps this slight movement has something to do with it.

  • Definitely a hardware issue. Have to rewire the switches. lol

  • I have a 52" LCD I believe. Over the last couple of days my picture was very dark. Well today, there was an "explosion" like a bulb in the back. Now I have no picture and when I do turn the TV on, there is a loud, rapid ticking noise. What happened?

  • I have a problem with a Phillips 50pfp5332d. It has sound but no picture. I shined a bright flashlight and doesn't look like there's any video at all or backlight. Any suggestions? I haven't cracked her open yet but I guess I will replace bulging leaking caps first off. No esr meter or anything. :(

  • You can easily rebond those strips.....its almost same as pager lcd repair got it down to where I could use sldiron with box end to adhere new or reglued cables...

  • @Knaeckebrotsaege It's good to hear that you have been able to fix them. Your method is the better way to go, since it does not include messing around with heat or other potentially damaging method.

  • @juopotski i've successfully fixed 3 TV's with this problem by taking the panel apart (mainly the metal frame around it) and placing flexible soft foam pads on the inside of the metal frame where the bonds are (on all bonds)

They push onto the bonds and unlike rubber pads, they're somewhat flexible/compressable.

none of these TVs has come back or gotten the same problem again. One of them was my bro's out-of-warranty sony POS and that's still doing fine 1 1/2 years later *knocks on wood*
