Castlevania Negative Damage

It's probably because of the way those games used to store certain data.
The max value for level for example, is 255.
Most other values are given a max of 65535.
My guess is that the 999 stats make that soul do more than 65535 damage, and because of that, it resets to -65535

Looks like he's trying to falcon pucnh them.

you must be overkilled that zombie

Basicly, healed to death.

Made a typo here:
Since the value can go negative it can't have a max of 65535 (those type of values can't be negative), it would probably be 32,767 that got ''reset'' to negative.
In which case he's still dealing a shitton of damage (Almost 50.000 I think)
-
That means that he deals a fucking over 100 000 damage. OMG.

@Rainb0wWarri0r Ohhh! That guy
Thanks :D

@michigo it's the soul you get for beating the boss before giant bat (the one with the huge hands + laser eye)
-
What soul is that? O_o
I don't seem to remember that -_-"

Wow, cheat is fun. I hacked a ROM here to have the Valmanway cause as much damage as its predescor, Crissaegrim. Now it is an ass whooping sword.

you can do it with a stat of one attack (obviously)
how do you get 999 stats in the first place?
