speier, a telemarketer makes sales calls and closes on the phone. There is no face to face meeting. The salesmen in Glengary Glen Ross use the phone to set appointments, then they go sell and close in person. That's the difference between telemarketing and regular sales.

I'm speaking as someone who's had both types of sales jobs.
