This is a demonstration of my latest Controller Monitor for game latency testing.

It uses a PIC32-based Arduino-compatible MCU (Digilent's chipKit) to allow more accurate representation of the analog controls and allow the user to fine-tune the sensitivity through programming.

Also possible are macro-controlled triggers for external TTL-level camera shutters. One action, such as left analog "aim down sight" could arm the camera, then right analog "fire" could start the camera to capture a high-speed burst of footage to analyze for latency.

Package includes the modified Xbox 360 controller, controller monitor display and 8 foot cable. The source code for updating the Arduino environment is available on my website.

  • Did you need to disable any internals or cut them out? Also did you use a pull-down resistor for each control? Thanks!

  • i like your hairstyle

  • Its Bill Gates 2

  • interesting fact

    bioware used this system

that how i found out :D

  • 1:15 thumps up if you saw steam on his laptop !

  • @litdan Latency measurement for videogame developers. By recording the lightboard and the screen at the same time (usually with a high-speed camera), you can see the delay between when a user presses a button and when the game reacts to the input. It's important to reduce this lag as much as possible, otherwise the game can appear sluggish or unresponsive.

  • And... exactly what does this solve or accomplish?

  • I can see this at a rave party just Way brighter

  • I don't need one of those, but i want one! :) So beautiful when you rolled the analog sticks, and the LEDs lit up!

  • just one more fan telling you how cool you are! Your tutorials and demos are excellent. Top notch. Both entertaining and educational.
