President George Bush Snr., "I don't know that Atheists should be considered as patriots, nor should they be considered as Citizens." Seneca (4-65 CE), "Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful."

When George Bush was campaigning for the presidency, as incumbent vice-president, one of his stops was in Chicago, Illinois, on August 27, 1987. At O'Hare Airport he held a formal outdoor news conference. There Robert I. Sherman, a reporter for the American Atheist news journal, fully accredited by the state of Illinois and by invitation a participating member of the press corps covering the national candidates, had the following exchange with then-Vice-President Bush.

Sherman: What will you do to win the votes of the Americans who are atheists?

Bush: I guess I'm pretty weak in the atheist community. Faith in God is important to me.

Sherman: Surely you recognize the equal citizenship and patriotism of Americans who are atheists?

Bush: No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God.

Sherman (somewhat taken aback): Do you support as a sound constitutional principle the separation of state and church?

Bush: Yes, I support the separation of church and state. I'm just not very high on atheists.

  • @princepersia1 I posted the video to point out how corrupt politicians use religion to serve their own nefarious political aims.

A prime example is Karl Rove, officially Episcopalian, in reality he's atheist. He was the chief architect of the Republican's election strategy during George H.W. Bush & George W. Bush presidential campaigns. The strategy involved garnering political support from conservative Christians, who Rove realised will vote republican if a candidate pretends to be Religious.

  • @princepersia1 Prove that it is a fact, and I'll take you seriously, Christianity is like belief in santa clause only it stays with you as you transgress into adulthood. We realize life is finite so we cherish life more than you Christians ever could. so you think Christians can babble on all they want and atheist have to shuht up and listen, fuck you dude seriously you are the most inept individual i've seen on youtube in a while, you repugnant, bigoted retard.

  • @princepersia1 The "One nation under god", the Pledge of Allegiance, was written by a christian socialist Francis Bellamy, a baptist minister almost 100 years after the founding fathers. The founding fathers hated christianity, but believed people should be free to believe. Atheism is vilified because during the cold war, atheism was linked with communism, learn your history idiot.

  • @princepersia1 Umm, christmas is definitely not christian, it's pagan, learn your history.

  • @princepersia1 You said jesus's name in vain. Based on your idiotic beliefs, aren't you now going to burn in hell and be in excruciating pain for the rest of eternity? Sucks bro.

  • @princepersia1

There have been many forms of "jesus" over the years to have walked this earth. But no one listened to them, Just as jesus was classed "before his time."

and besides if the Return of Christ did happen like you american's would take leadership from Durkahstahn. Do people even think anymore?

  • @princepersia1

It's because people are finally seeing the truth, Atheists aren't just people who question religion but all forms of authority. Atheism is about questioning what's "true." I think it is your own belief that needs reprocessing. lol Christmas is now the exact opposite as what it's suppose to symbolize.

And why the hell can't you just believe and shut the fuck up about it? You know if I was a Christian I'd spend every minute hoping it's not true cause we'd all be fucked.

  • @princepersia1 that was very christlike.

  • @princepersia1 How is the second coming of Jesus a fact?! Where is the evidence to support this?

  • @princepersia1 OK firstly, how are you gonna say that people have gotten dumber when all of these technological advances are in the world around you. Secondly, before you start saying why people hate atheists, you might want to get your definitions right. Atheism is the belief that there is no god. Nihilism is the belief that life has no meaning. You can be one and not the other.

  • @uniteordie1 That's because apocalypse IS inevitable, the second coming of Jesus Christ is a FACT and I'm sorry but the world isn't going to listen to Atheists about things like that, it's like taking advice from a child. Why don't you people keep your mouths shut and stay out of it. You believe that life ends and then you go into nothingness so why does it even matter for you. Seriously if you died now or in 100 years who cares if you lived a good life or not. Atheists are just depressed emos.
