The Uranium may well be worth millions of dollars, the tourist-spend implications of any downgrade to Arkaroola's status, as an ECO-tourism destination, will be felt right through the Flinders Ranges and possibly the state. This would be ongoing and irrecoverable. The flow-on cost may make the short-term royalties the government gets from mining Arkaroola insignificant over time. Some politicians can only think as far as what is on their desktop in front of them!
I'm sickened that two-faced Rann would allow these corporate-immorals anywhere near Arkaroola.
In 2005 Rann officially unveiled the Ediacaran Golden Spike.
At this event he spoke highly of the Sprigg family's collective commitment and contribution to tourism, conservation and geology. He lauded the importance of the Flinders Ranges on those same points. I guess that suited the purpose on the day.
I am still shocked at the fact they want to do this, Arkaroola is such a lovely place that i have been visiting since i was a child. I wish there was something i could do to stop this but the only problem is it needs more than 1 person. lets all band together to help this wonderful place from money hungry scum bags. please post coments maybe some one will see them,WE HOPE!

Me too, Pete - Arkaroola is a window right back to the beginning of life on earth, and pristine wilderness protected by dedicated, principled people.
I'm with you - about stopping this.
