Positional vertigo is a type of dizziness that occurs when a person rolls in bed, bends over, or looks up. It is caused by crystals in the inner ear that are out of their normal position, and is easily resolved in most cases by a simple roll procedure. Do this procedure in the morning to allow the crystals to settle in the new position before going to bed. If your spinning is severe, it is helpful to have another person nearby to provide support and to assist with timing the roll procedure. • I've had vertigo on and off for 3 or more years. My doctor suggested I go to see a specialist, so I tried You Tube instead! Tried this exercise yesterday afternoon. Room spun like crazy half way through, then peace. Last night? No spinning when I lay down and turned over and this morning...total bliss; no spinning or vertigo at all. Al I can say is an enormous THANK YOU. At last no vertigo as I walk around. Thanks You Tube, that's what the internet should all be about.

  • I've had vertigo for 9 days,

All of the other vids say 15 secs on each side so when I saw 2 mins it sounded like a lot.

    I did it anyway.

I went to bed shortly after and today I felt an improvement.

Tonight when I went to do this exercise again I experienced NO SPINS at all. (typically the room would spin for 15 secs before)

I am crossing my fingers that the vertigo is gone and I think it just might be because of this video!!

thank for posting a CLEAR example of how to do this maneuver !

  • i went in to see my doctor and he showed me this video. will try and leave comment later.

  • I had my first (horrifying, until I figured out what it was) experience with vertigo on Christmas morning yesterday, and this video helped tremendously. Thank you for sharing this with the world. I don't know when the episode will be completely over, but at least I'm not spinning. I did get nauseous after doing this right after I got up this morning, but am much better now.

  • First I had this maneuver with doctor's help, it was very quick movement and didn't help at all. Then I searched online and found this "slow version" of Epley maneuver. It worked for me! Thank you so much for this video!

  • I tried this and nothing really happened. Makes me think my doctor was wrong.

  • I have the "rocking boat" sensation all the time for about 2 months now- will this help? I've had all kinds of tests done and they have found nothing.

  • This helps for positional vertigo! - please people, SEE A DOCTOR to make sure the vertigo isn't caused by anything else - youtube does not replace a doctor visit!

The Epley's maneuver should be performed 3 times per day until you are free from vertigo for 24 hours. To my knowledge the Epley's maneuver is designed for a type of vertigo called BPPV, caused by a Otolith (stone in the posterior semicircular canal). This maneuver helps move the stone from the semicircular canal and therefore helping with vertigo. This will not help with Meniere's, as others have eluded to.

  • I woke up with vertigo one morning much to my dismay. Did not know what to do for about 10 days until I finally looked it up on line and found this video. A miracle occurred. After one run though of the Epley Maneuver done as suggested in this video it went away. Whoopee! Thank yo so much for posting this!

  • This video just worked wonders for me. Literally 15 minutes after dinner, I couldn't move my eyes without feeling the room spinning. I slept 11 hours and woke up with the same feeling. Tried this technique and I feel 99% better. This thing works. Only a slight headache and extremely minor dizziness, but it's crazy how much better I feel.
