  • Thanks for the comments guys. No need to put drainage holes in the gutters. A sheet of plastic certainly helps to keep moisture in. I do this in sunny weather. just remember to check your seedlings and whip it off once they come up.

They're a much better bet than peat pots too. Far more portable. Peat pots tend to collapse. And gutters will last for decades!

    Cheers

    Peter

  • The plastic gutter is about the only way to start carrots indoors. as carrots cannot be planted out in the same way that carrots can. with this method you just make i little trench where you want them to grow and just slide the whole lot out of the gutter in one go.

  • Cool tips, thanks alot! Let the self sufficiency revolution begin. If everyone started doing this stuff in their back garden today, the world would change.

  • very nice video, thank you, I'm planing today!

  • Thanks for the great video - do I need to put drainage holes in the guttering before I plnat and also do you ever cover your indoor seeds with plastic?

    Thanks again :)

  • like the gutter idea think it will work a lot better than conventional planting. save money on the peat pots.
