Dont think that this was written for us this way
Lucky once until the time of your reckoning day
A shot from the dark and all you see is the black
Straight to the chest and its time for heart attack

Mug shot to reveal eyes of a cold blooded killer
Difference is that he is still alive to kill another
In about ten years or so when he learns the skill
To never get caught again until he gets his kill

Then to disappear into the shadows of this city
Body left bleeding and dying without that of pity
Forever the suspicious faces haunt the other side
Then pick him off in turn with no where to hide

So now Mr Detective who do we interview first?
Impulse says he knew who it was with that thirst
You try proving it with a thousand and one alibis
And with never a shortage of secret inside spies

They were in Spain with the bad heroin they sold
Knowing your frustration as your blood runs cold
Their the ones with gold coins and a nickel bullet
Closer you get a letter of your name is placed on it

Where do you run to in the big city with no shelter?
Never such a place to avoid this fatal helter-skelter
A human hand to gangster mind; a sense of lethality
Is drawn from revenge and calling time of animosity

Locked into a circuit of violence to turn streets red
Remember who you are with a price upon your head
So that was bad stuff that killed the prostitute today
She had nothing to live for; even less to die that way

Etched respect from the ruthless brutality they shed
Another dead teenager whilst the law enforcers fled
The weeping mother with the infected needle arms
Before she was this who fell for her lovers charms

Though he had a girlfriend across town half his age
Never short of hard cash when he hired with his rage
Interviewing the girls with brutal fornicating methods
Making him the profit for hungry business class sods

Traffic them in as the law stands by with discontent
Their ignorance and convenient blind eyes augment
To the cause of the scandal to keep the case file open
A new law founded down dark streets by hard men
