I'm American, can someone tell me from you guys prospective how the majority of Britain sees the monarcy? From our prospective it seems like their just respected because of the hundreds of years of history but still hated and used for tabloids.

@Jelloxox - I'm 37, and people around my age and younger do not give two hoots about the Monarchy, it's just a status symbol to many people. My parents generation and their parents before them are more pro-Monarchy (Mother watched the recent Royal wedding in tears). There are still a few million people who think they are beneath the Monarch, and others purely worsheep the Monarch. Once the old generation are gone the Monarch will probably collapse and a Republic will form-God willing..

Monarchy is such an archaic system that i find it frankly ridicolous that some people support in this day and age. Monarchies belong to the dark and middle ages of mankind and not in 2012. To have hereditary power and wealth over nations just because of genetics is a laughable concept.

The day and age when monarchs could oppress and use serfs and slaves are thankfully over in Britain, the monarchies will be gone all over the world in the future because it has no place in the world of today.
