I remember watching this live on BBC. Being a Piquet fan it was disappointing to see Mansell getting a second chance in the spare car and winning the race. I can't believe this is over 25 years ago......great F1 days though.

my dad was one of the mashalls at that race

Laffite was a very great f1 Driver. Faster than his teammate Jabouille. And Jabouille was the renault tester and becames the best upgrades.

@ibanezrgt220 yes you are right Brands Hatch is very quick, although can you imagine a Mark Webber style incident happening there? Although safety is not a concern in Bernie's eyes
-
@racingfanatic96 Very true, but Monaco isn't super quick like this track. What world do you live in?
-
@ibanezrgt220 Don't know what world you live in but I certainly see that today with Monaco.

Such a dangerous track....No run-offs and the crowd almost track-side. wow you wouldn't see that today!

@RNCoyote Two words explain the decline: Bernie and Ecclestone
Remember when Formula 1 was amazing with stands full and racing was great? You can't say that about today state of F1.

@TheColinChapman
Freak accidents will always happen.... you try to recreate the surtees accident a 100.000 times and the chance that A the wheel will break off and B will go back on track and C a driver manages to hit it with it's head and D die (D will probably happen if A, B and C happen) is very slim. If you want to stop freak accidents from happening we should stop racing.....
