The Melvins do a classic cover off their new album NUDE WITH BOOTS:
Dies Irae (Day of Wrath) is a famous thirteenth century Latin hymn thought to be written by Thomas of Celano. It is a medieval Latin poem, differing from classical Latin by its accentual (non-quantitative) stress and its rhymed lines. The meter is trochaic. The poem describes the day of judgment, the last trumpet summoning souls before the throne of God, where the saved will be delivered and the unsaved cast into eternal flames.
ALSO, the opening score to "The Shining".

Nobody could have done a better job at transcribing a 12th century latin hymn into modern day music than the Melvin's.

Jesus, you're a buffoon. There's good music out there. No one is making you listen to anything you don't want to. Pick what you like and listen to it. Quit bitching about "mormon pussies" (seriously, what the fuck does that have to do with anything?) and other imaginary problems (logos? products?) and filter what you hear. Good music will always be there for people to find and lousy music will sell millions of records. Support the good stuff and don't even let the crap on your radar.

i saw them yesterday at the house of blues in vegas. they opened for a band called down (they kinda sucked by the way). melvins were a million times better. the two drummers made it even more kick fucking ass.
