[Madison's P.O.V.]

Did Caleb seriously... SERIOUSLY... just kiss me?

I... He... Why?

He pulled away, still holding my face in his hands, and let out a sigh after forcefully kissing me.

"...Caleb-"

"Maddy, I love you. I have for years now. I can't deny it any longer..."

"...I-"

"I know you don't feel the same way, but I just want you to know that I love you and have for years..."

I stayed silent. What the hell was I supposed to say?

"Maddy, you don't need Nick in your life anymore. He's controlling you and... let's just say, he's not the person you think he is."

"Caleb, you don't know this stuff. You think you know Nick's entire life story when you really don't..." He sighed, removing his hands away from my shoulders.

"I know things you don't, Maddy." Can I even believe him?

"Well then maybe it's time you start telling me," I said. Caleb looked into my eyes, shaking his head.

"I... can't do that. I don't want to be the person to tell you."

"Just tell me, Caleb."

"I'm not going to, Madison. I don't need to be the person to tell you, he does."

This was frustrating.

"Caleb, I'm sorry to have to put it to you like this but I don't like you the way you like me. You saying this about Nick isn't going to make me start liking you like that either. I love Nick, and the fact that you just can't realize that and keep trying to ruin things between us really upsets me. We're BEST friends!" I raised my voice. He looked at the ground silently. "Well... was." I started walking down the street, trying to get away from him.

"There's another girl in the picture," he said. I stopped walking and turned around to look at him. He looked at me with sad, honest eyes. Another girl...?

"...What?" I asked, slowly walking back towards him. He sighed, shrugging.

"You wanted to know." Damn right I did... but now I regret wanting to...

"Tell me more..." I said. He hesitated. "Caleb, you've already said it. Just continue," I demanded.

"I can't say much more..."

"How do you know there's another girl? Are you even positive?" Probably wasn't.

"I'm positive. Trust me."

I didn't know what to believe anymore. I felt like just curling up into a little ball and crying. I started walking away again, this time more slowly and sadly. Caleb walked up beside me and wrapped an arm around my shoulders. It felt different now... I didn't feel like I was out with my best friend. I felt like I was cheating on Nick with a boy that's in love with me. I removed Caleb's arm and faced him.

"I'm so sorry Caleb but... I just can't be around you right now." I started walking off again, not hearing the sound of his steps follow me. I noticed my lips still slightly tingling from that kiss. Saying I didn't feel anything would be a lie...
