Heavyweight contender Chris Arreola of Riverside, Calif., will be attempting to rebound from having lost two of his past three bouts on Aug. 13 when he takes on promotional stablemate Manny Quezada at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.

On the ESPN2-televised card, Arreola (28-2, 25 knockouts) will be in the ring for the first time since April 24, when he lost a majority decision to former light heavyweight (175 pounds) and cruiserweight (200 pounds) champion Tomasz Adamek (41-1, 27 KOs), winner of his 10th consecutive victory and only his third as a heavyweight.

Arreola was coming off of December's knockout of Brian Minto before losing to Adamek. Prior to that, Arreola had been stopped in the 10th round in September, when he unsuccessfully challenged WBC champion, Vitali Klitschko.

"We finally finalized Arreola's next fight with Manuel Quezada. Chris has been training. The way that I look at Chris's career right now is that we have one of the most exciting heavyweights since the days of Mike Tyson," said Dan Goossen, Arreola's promoter.

"With total dedication, I believe that he can rise to the level that Mike Tyson achieved," said Goossen. "But it takes complete and utter sacrifice, and I believe that he's capable of it. But that question will have to be answered on Aug. 13."

Quezada (29-5, 18 KOs) is coming off of an April 8, split-decision, upset loss to Jason Gavern that ended a run of 18 consecutive victories, nine of them by knockout.

"I've got a Mexican heavyweight that believes that he's been in the shadows of Arreola for the last couple of years, and hasn't been able to get his opportunity to overcome that shadow," said Goossen.

"This is another guy who we've been promoting for the past four years, and he's very motivated," said Goossen. "He too has not always shown the dedication that is needed in the gym. The winner of this fight will win it by preparing for it in the gym." -FanHouse

  • The face off is all show!

  • arrieola needs to be 240 the rest of his carrier

  • Stupid greasy fat arreola what the fuck is wrong with you? Dumb clown get your conditioning training right and stop being a fat fuck. You let me down when you took a pounding from klitschko. i bet your still a fat ass

  • This bout didnt live up to the hype at all! This promo was more explosive to be honest! Much respect for both fighters but Quezada stood the distance with a fighter that has had far better opposition at the elite level. After fighting a mountain like Vitali, he should've knocked Manny cold! So should Arreola fight Valuev or would he fare better at Cruiser?

  • Two fat asses that ate themselves up to that division. Serious, how fucking sad and what a disgrace to the sport. Arreola either needs to get Anne Wolfe to become his personal trainer or his fat ass needs to stick to ESPN 2 fight cards.

  • tonight on the 13th or que

  • JOSESITO KICK SOME ASS ,, YEAA
