The fact that you can circular breath while playing overtones on the melody and baseline all at the same time makes this one of the best videos I've ever seen. It might not sound too pretty, but you have to get past that!

No, it's possible to maintain tone while circular breathing. He does it pretty well in this video actually, he's just doing a lot of false/alternate fingerings and multiphonics so that's the "oboe like" sound you hear. Rothenberg can sustain great tone while circular breathing though, heard him do it in other contexts. Also; Evan Parker, nuff said.
