@midimaster If I may, I would recommend Le fond de l'air est rouge [english title: A Grin Without a Cat]. It's up there with Sans Soleil for me... it's a sort of elegy for the New Left, although as usual with Marker it is far more than that too.

@marcotogniphoto I stop here about the video, but more things are still there now. As you can see Tokyo didn't change so much. ;-) I hope you enjoyed reading me, even if my english is not so good. Thanks!

@Ido013 0:01: Shibuya 109 and a Catholic boy for "propaganda" (still now you can find both), 0:11: Mikimoto in Ginza: still exactly the same. 0:19: cat and on the background a haircut shop (still same "logo" outside the shop), from 0:38 for some seconds trains, JR is still exactly the same), 0:47: probably near Iidabashi or Ochanomizu, but maybe the bridge is different now, 0:57: Ameyoko in Ueno, 1:22 Kinokuniya book store in Shinjuku (still there), 1:52: it's in Ginza, still there...

@marcotogniphoto It's very different looking though.

@Ido013 it means you didn't visit Tokyo enough. 90% of this places are still there.

Whoa the place has changed a lot since 1983 I don't remember seeing any of that lol.

The English language version is excellent, and will allow you to concentrate more on the images, rather than the subtitles on the French version (unless you're fluent in French of course).

I watched this film on video tape in a library in 1995. Great film.

I'll watch the French one then. La Jetee also has dual language tracks, but it's better in French (though not terrible in English).
I bought the DVD of La Jetee and this film a while back, and still haven't gotten around to Sans Soleil. I will now. Great clips.

Thanks, you'll LOVE Sans Soleil :) I liked it better than Le Jetee myself.

Glad to hear it. Should I watch the French version or the English one? The DVD has both. I'm leaning towards the French version.
Check out A.K., a documentary Marker made of Kurosawa directing Ran. It's on the Criterion DVD.

I'd say the French one, since that was the "original". I've yet to watch A.K. and I do have it in .avi format :) Just watched "2084" by Chris Marker, that was pretty cool as well :)
