The Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Hate Crimes Prevention Act has made history: President Obama signs it into law on Oct. 28. But Judy Shepard's work is far from done. Ever since Matthew's brutal murder in 1998, Judy Shepard has been working tirelessly for LGBT rights, hate crime legislation and justice for her son.

Judy sat down with OURsceneTV and talked about her new book, "The Meaning of Matthew: My Sons Murder in Laramie, and a World Transformed." In this intimate interview, she reveals a Matthew the outside world never knew.

It is tragic that Mrs Shepard has been put in this position by 'virtue' of the fact that her beloved son was brutally murdered.It is so tempting to hate the homophobes & haters but I actually pity them more than hate them.Hating them would make me as bad as they are,in my opinion.Their lives must be desolate with so much poison in them.

As someone who believes in Jesus and God, and who accepts homosexuals, and understands I want to respond to the neagtive comments. In regards to Matt, or anyone being in hell, I want to start by saying that it is entirely up to God where anyone goes when they leave this earth; gay, straight, whatever. It is NEVER, a humans decision to play God and say where anyone is when they die. Please be appropriate, and understand that if you represent God, your comments do a great injustice.
