My first chiptune made using FamiTracker. I'd like to make more, so constructive criticism please.

  • hahahahaha sounds cool and like your little pixel dude. but since you said constructive criticism...i dont know how the program works that you used...but maybe some more chords and a faster beat...the little tune (i dont know the word for it) that plays through the whole thing, the one that starts out in the beginning, gets kind of annoying after a while so maybe mix it up more....yeah...just my opinion...but good job! is this for a class or just for fun?

  • Thanks for the thoughts! I can easily make song go faster. However, that would make the drum breakdown at the end a little to fast. In terms of the repeating arpeggio, that was just my lack of being able to write music. Also, it stems from a song I wrote on guitar a few months back. I, too, wanted to include some chords, but the restrictions on the tracker didn't permit me pulling that off. The FamiTracker is intended to emulate the sounds made by an NES so that limits my music to a mere four...

...channels. Two for square sound waves which are used for melodies etc, one for triangle waves which are used for bass, and one noise channel which is typically used for percussion. Lastly, I didn't do this for a class or anything special. I just thought it would be fun to play with. I've recently gotten into bands that use chiptunes in their music, like I Fight Dragons. (Check them out!) For more info on the sound wave types or chiptunes, check out the links I put in the information...
