I heard this song on the radio promoting the Fighting album - I bought the album and was disappointed this track wasn't on it!! Love this song (B-side of Rosalie); Phil knows what he's singing about...

No, that song's called "Junktown Reggae" It's from his side project. It's on a soundtrack from an English 80's movie. After years of searching, I finally found it here on youtube. Great song.

"Big Smoke" here probably has a degree of dual meaning; but, historically, it refers to the city of London.
Lynott is Irish end of story (he's also black Brazilian due to his father), he's half Irish by heritage and you get loads of yanks saying "I'm Irish" even though they only have 25% Irish heritage and nobody questions them because they're white but when a half black half Irish person says it they look at him/her like "how?". Lynott's Irish, Paul McGrath's Irish, Samantha Mumba's Irish (due to the fact they're all 50% Irish), Thin lizzy is the most under rated band EVER

An ethnic group is a group of humans whose members identify with each other, through a common heritage that is real or assumed. This shared heritage may be based upon putative common ancestry, history, kinship, religion, language, shared territory, nationality or physical appearance. Members of an ethnic group are conscious of belonging to an ethnic group; moreover ethnic identity is further marked by the recognition from others of a group's distinctiveness.
