Hello, I'm Rebecca Field with a UPI entertainment update on this Wednesday, August 15, 2007.
Actress Lindsay Lohan is now being sued over that car chase that resulted in her arrest. The passenger of the car that Lohan was allegedly following while drunk says she felt her life was in danger. The woman is suing Lohan for negligence and assault. There's no word on how much money she's seeking. The actress was arrested last month for driving under the influence and possession of cocaine.
Don Imus and CBS Radio have reached a settlement. There are no details on the agreement but it apparently prevents the former radio host from going forward with his 120 million dollar breach of contract lawsuit. He planned to sue the network for unpaid salary and damages. There's also word that he's planning a comeback with New York's WABC Radio. Imus was fired last April for making racist and sexist comments on air about the Rutger's women's basketball team.
It was a star-studded evening in New York last night, for the premiere of a new romantic comedy, "Dedication." Mandy Moore, who stars in the film, reportedly says she's proud of the movie and excited for people to see it. Moore plays a book illustrator who finds herself working with a children's book author...played by actor Billy Crudup. The film, directed by Justin Theraux, was highly praised at the Sundance Film festival earlier this year. It's scheduled for a wide release in September.
Former Spice girl Victoria Beckham will go from Posh to Pudgy for an upcoming TV appearance. She'll reportedly wear a fat suit to play a chubby bridesmaid on the hit ABC series "Ugly Betty." Beckham tells a British newspaper she'll be playing herself...just a bit rounder after moving to the U.S. and loading up on junk food. There's no word on when the episode will air.
People gathered in New York's Times Square yesterday to recreate a very famous kiss. In honor of the 62nd anniversary of VJ Day, or the end of World War II, couples kissed in the square, mimicking that famous photo from 1945. The Alfred Eisenstaedt picture captured a sailor kissing a nurse celebrating the end of the war.
That's all for now. For more on those stories and all the day's news go to upi.com. Thanks for watching!
