When I was in college, I took a class in positive reinforcement dog training with an organization that trained service dogs. The dogs-- all golden retrievers-- were rotated around from a women's prison to the college setting. The dogs that spent more time at the prison tended to learn their commands far faster than those who were living with college students.
This is the best prison program and I was so blessed to be a part of it. These dogs had issues bigtime, that's why nobody would adopt them from shelters. But they become healthy and happy pets after only a few weeks. Please don't contribute to slave-based puppy mills, look into adopting from a Paws in Prison type program if they have one in your area.
Wow, great program and video. Thanks for helping dogs and people.
