The famous Flying Scotsman locomotive has two whistles - here they are in my hand at the National Railway Museum in York, UK while the locomotive is being overhauled.

  • well its not common in the UK but its very common in the US

  • thanks Good info on UK whistles USA ones are different as the locos only use one tone & that can be different on every line too

  • in the UK the bell whistle (one chime) is probobly used more in the US they use mostly The Chime whistles

  • I think the South African Chime? (It looks the same to RH&DR Black Prince) sounds better than the standard LNER whistle.
