Masterful Dutch jazz guitarist, Jesse van Ruller performs one of his own compositions, "Have a Heart" (ignore the screen title describing this as "Con Alma") with Frans van der Hoeven on bass and Martijn Vink on drums.

  • I can see how the mistake was made (especially as Jesse has recorded and performs both tunes) but this isn't 'Con Alma'.

  • nothing short of amazing, this guitarist. and extremely underrated, if you ask me. i'll take him over, say, ben monder or kurt rosenwinkel any time of the day - which is of course purely a matter of taste, though, as both of them are, of course, fantastic guitarists in their own right, too (no need to mention that, actually). but jesse's playing is just so smooth and tasteful, reminds me a bit of a crossbreed between pat metheny and peter bernstein, actually. just - wow!

  • Great playing.. ugly shirt though

  • Amazing TRIO!Poetic Bass Player!!!

  • I understands frustrations that some have over the historical trend of White musicians "stealing" Black ideas and boxing out Black people, its true I think this music has to do with identity, something African Americans have had to largely create for themselves in the US.Thats not to be taken lightly. On a personal note though, many aspects of African American culture have found their way into my identity though I am white. To me color is nothin but to society it is &affects people remember that

  • @Hoopermazing

Don't you see even a tiny bit of irony in arguing that white people shouldn't play jazz because they stole it from the blacks by being racist?

  • @Vivitrax Thank you.

  • Excellent performance!

  • @Hoopermazing You're ignorant, feeble mind is really cute though. "Blacks create all the good stuff in the world, and since I'm black, by my calculations, I equal greatness too! I'm better than whites." Its funny how you exhume all the negative stereotypes. Im going to end it with this, Great Music is Raceless, Ageless, and Timeless. But go ahead keep finding white jazz musicians on youtube and profess your ethnocentrism to the world jack!

  • @Hoopermazing Jazz as we all know it today and even at the very beginning is a conglomeration of a LOT of different groups of individuals. I'm going to quit wasting my time trying to enlighten a fool like yourself. All I hear from your side is "Wah white people stole black music and forced them out of genres" If blacks are the originators who are so great how is it possible for them to get FORCED OUT of a genre they created? YOU'RE IGNORANT. Keep crying and adding hot air to the world.

  • @Hoopermazing Its sad broken minded Individuals like you exist. But lets play. Valid analogies for you. Do you know how many black gospel pianists I know personally who admit to borrowing heavily from Chopin, Bach, Motzart? The inventor of the piano was white, same for the first 6 string guitar, electric guitar, Recording period comes from whites. Multi-track as well - all of which would forward progress into sampling - used heavily in hip hop.

  • @Vivitrax ... and while you're at it, i.e. fucking yourself, you might want to read up on how to compose a valid analogy.
