  • georgezimmer - I think you're right about Fox News. I know that Bill O'Reilly's numbers are way down and Keith Olbermann is way up. But it's not just that Fox is so uber-GOP. It's that they're just so antagonistic. And in the age of bipartisanship and lets all get along - that kind of confrontational baloney (their stock in trade) is just getting a little stale and worn out.

  • You are right, it is both. It is lack of critical thinking that gets us to uncomfortable positions. It is also our reliance on the critical thinking of others that helps to set up such events.

  • It's not rocket science jackass.

  • Mgband - I dunno - I think it's a lack of critical thinking skills that got us two terms of Bush and people calling Obama a terrorist at Republican rallies. Just my take on it.

  • Sure, it is physically possible, but lets assume that you are capable of higher thought for a minute...

    So you put them in prisons in the US, you have to decide what prisoners go where as some of them are more high risk than others. You have to protect them from the non-military guards, not to mention prisoners because some have information that we are still trying to get. Not to mention the red tape in holding people who can be innocent in US prisons, because they are not all guilty.

  • "IMPOSSIBLE"? Yeah right. You put the prisoners in a bus, drive them to a plane, and fly them back to a prison in America where they can have a trial. It could all be done in one day. There aren't that many prisoner THERE. Get real. You are not living in reality.

  • Let's be honest, the reason why we don't give people credit for critical thinking is because lots of them don't deserve it.

    Trusting people to think gets you two terms of Bush, and people calling Obama a terrorist at republican rallies.

    No thank you.

  • Dude, it is IMPOSSIBLE for him to close it today. Simply impossible. If he were to try to do that, it would show a lack of executive experience more than anything else. While Bush was in office, there was no plan to close Gitmo, so Obama has to work from the ground up on this one. He needs to make sure there is a place to put the prisoners. Remember, not all of them are innocent.

  • Hey I know lets send the Guantanamo people to the Fort Leavenworth Prison, maybe some of our soldiers (who I know must have a soft spot for Islam) can give them a good old fashion home welcoming party.

    Hey as far as that goes Im sure they can find safety in any one of our prisons. :}

  • Joe is such an ass. The Nazi war criminals didn't need habeas corpus -- they had trials. The kind where one has defense counsel and the right to see the evidence brought before oneself. The whole point of habeas corpus is to provide a trial when a prisoner is being held without trial.
