@Weltbevoelkerung I think I get your question... The coffee containers are much more easily crushed, and when the craft hit the water, the cans simply compressed, from the sudden deceleration, much like they do, if you were to stand on one. The force would be comperable, in essence, but would be ONLY from the weight of the can, itself. They are saying that the gravitational forces were HUGE. If the cans were crushed, from undersea pressure, they would have imploded at a constant rate.
Coffee cans (and similar) are made of thin metal with much of the air removed to create a semi-vacuum (you can hear air rush in when the can is punctured). Black boxes (sealed, but no vacuum) are made of thicker metal with a rigid frame inside to maintain the shape. While both can obviously be crushed by a strong enough impact, the coffee can will always go well before the sturdier black box.
