I used to own a Chevette HSX,(reg MAL 144W) they were black & didn't have the wide arches, tartan seats & wood dash/door cappings. They were never turbocharged as standard though, same 2.3 twin cam as the HS & HSR.

Ford spent far more on motor sport than any other manufacturer, coz they figured that track success would lure the mugs into the showrooms, and it worked. But the chevette did very well, and was a nicer car to drive in standard form than the mk2 escort. Ive owned both. The mk2 was one of the dullest cars Ive ever had. It rusted bloody quick to. Nice gearbox though.
