Its title character is an oddly childlike, polka dot-clad pinhead, coerced by a cadre of authoritarian scientists into carrying out a cutesy, mechanical dance performance. Torn between the dictates of his oppressors and his simmering, repressed id, Mimsy plays out his wacky dialectical psychodrama on stage, within the confines of a mysterious theater.
