  • Needs a bit more TLC. It sounds like there are some rocker arms that are running with 3 inch gaps. And the rubber hoses swinging around. This is pretty kewl. I hope it stays together.

  • Nope all rocker arms as per spec. Most of the noise you can here is the generator in the background that sure could do with a tappet check at some point. The other major noise you here once running is a bad leak (basically a hole) on the exhaust pipe now fixed. Staying together so far now has several trips under her belt.

  • How on earth do you get parts for such an engine?

  • Half the time you don't what you have is what you got. There is an old engine network of people that one can tap into, otherwise machine shop/foundries are a solution though expensive.

  • all those rubber hose's... whers the copper pyping???

    btw bit leaking exhaust gaskets?

  • 'all those rubber hose's... whers the copper pyping???' All in good time.

    'btw bit leaking exhaust gaskets?'

Yep fairly major leak on the exhaust flange welds where it had cracked, its top of the list. This was the first test fire up and at that point was of no concern.

  • @nobbyclassic Awesome. Looks like a mighty beast with a life of its own.

  • This reminds me of the engineroom on the Comliebank of 1924 vintage.Twin B&W diesels with exposed valve gear.Stench, smoke, unbearable temperatures on the cylinder tops and frequent fires.Ah,the good old days!

  • n1ce one ;D and old schooll ;D

  • I was chief on a towboat-packer with an Enterprise DMG 6, Air start, direct reversing. Lovely engine to be around while running. I made audio tapes of the engine trials; starting, forward, reverse, throttle up and down, but regrettably not video. Glad to see yours running. Good luck on your restoration.

  • absolutely beautiful

  • that pretty cool
