I was concerned about the engine being too hot as well, but I read and discovered it's only a few degrees warmer and not enought to seriously dammage the engine, so I went for it. You could also mask off the fins and leave them silver for a cool effect and black the rest of the engine. In my opinion it's not that much of a difference, but is there such a thing as too careful? Maybe not. Hope that helped.

Nice bike. I've got 2x XV750MK Midnight Specials 1982 and XV1100 1995
Most of the chrome is blacked out including the engine with gold effects all throughout the badges and wheel accents. A very cool look.

No baffles were removed. This bike was left in a barn for 10 years and is practically original. It is really quiet when not reved.
