  • Nice clips. AMC has been showing the move all night. Pretty amazing to see the actor who played the doctor was born in the 1860's just a few years after the Civil War.

  • @ParisLondonRoma What is AMC ? Sorry, never heard of that. These new clips were part of a special show organized by Archivio Aperto in Bologna (Italy). I was thrilled to discover them. Never had seen those before. Yes, Harry Davenport, who played Doctor Meade was quite old enough to have know the post Civil War. But do remember that actual veterans of the war were invited to the Premiere in Atlanta in december 39...

  • @Tanguynew08 AMC (America Movie Classics) is a major cable movie channel that features film classics. I'm sure a lot of people watched GWTW yesterday (I saw it twice). If your video counts go up this week AMC might be why.

I did know about the old Civil War Vets from watching a Making of GWTW video. I just never realized Meade was so old.

I live just 30 minutes north of New York City. Olivier and Leigh once lived in a house close by in Snedens Landing, an artist's colony near Nyack

  • @ParisLondonRoma Oh I see... Sorry... Didn't know about that channel... Understand better what you meant. I live in France and had no idea GWTW had been on the cable recently in the US (although I wonder, if there is a minute in the whole world, where this film is not shown somewhere...)

How interesting you are living not far from Snedens Landing... Yes I remember the Oliviers lived there (was it when they were playing Romeo and Juliet ?)
