Sikh are suppose to carry a Kirpan (Knife) mainly as symbol for protection purposes as a last resort be it for the defence of the weak including non-sikhs, and the sikhs themselves. Never for any other reasons. Baptise sikhs must carry a kirpan but even un baptise sikhs can carry one depending on piety.
