  • In hindsight, it was crucial to Apple to have SPJ back, but let's face it, BeOS was a better platform for the Mac to adopt than the crappy NeXTstep. Crappy even 15 years later.

  • George Lucas at 07:50 !!! lol

  • Why? The idea was never to license the OS, quite the contrary. Jobs was never the "make an OS to run on someone else's box" kind of guy, he was always the "make the whole widget" guy. Even at NeXT he made both the hardware and the software. He also had no reason to compete with Gates at that point, he'd obviously "lost" that battle as he mentioned later on in his life at All Things D. What he meant by "run on PC's" was he ran on PC architecture, that of x86, which OS X now does.

  • Well, he achieved his goal of "steering the leaking ship in the right direction" lol. I think he gets more hate than he deserved, as you said he did the best thing he could have done for the company in bringing back Steve. He had the failures of previous CEO's to work against, much like many new governments have to sort out the mess the previous administration made because they knew someone else would have to sort out their shit lol.

  • I was working at Apple when Gil was CEO. He may have been a bit "boring", but he tried really hard to save Apple. He made the wise decision to can Copland (which I saw running, btw, it sucked). He helped keep some of Apple's management in check as they were ready to sell Apple to Sun, or buy some really bad OS (Im not talking about BeOS, which I had too,). Gil knew he could only fix Apple by doing one thing - bringing back Steve Jobs and stepping aside. He should be praised for that decision.

  • When I worked at Motorola I worked in the PPC planning division. I saw 5 - 15 year planning maps. It was a great platform.

  • Plus that ending song just.. SUCKS

  • 43:50 heh steve was like "Before I get rid of that fucking idiot Gil, i'm also going to get rid of that nut job too!"

  • Wow, Apple was run by a bunch of mindless retards........Steve really did save his company from the brink by coming back with NextStep in hand.
