An animated comedy of a game of chess gone wrong. Described by one reviewer as being very like "a Classic Monty Python Skit". Winner of a Bronze Telly award. Did I mention there's blood?

Has been featured in the Spike and Mike festival of animation and made its Theatrical Premiere in the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Music is Hammer in the Sand composed and performed by Steve Hackett from the album Defector. Used with permission for film festivals etc.

The version that ran in the Spike and Mike festival had different music as we couldn't afford to license Hammer in the Sand (5 times the cost of the movie) so Beethoven / Moolight Sonata is featured there.

  • This is priceless! Lately I've started learning how to play chess (don't expect me to be good for a while), & only now can I really appreciate such a film as this. Wonderful stuff.

  • @TheAlMaAri Thanks for the comments. Chess is a great game. But it is so serious it is fun to make fun of it. Glad you enjoyed it. It did win some awards in its life.

  • @richard321 Have you seen my two latest? THE BOLT WHO SCREWED CHRISTMAS and NO! NOT THE CHICKEN! ?

CHESS played in the Ventura Film Festival in 2011. So it still has a life.

  • @wedgeworld1701 Hey, it's been 2 years since I posted my comments and I just wanted to apologize for being annoying. I don't know why I posted such comments, this video just rocks! Sorry. :)

  • "White removes the black queen from the board. This is called cheating."

  • I am glad you liked it. I made it so long ago I forgot that we moved all those pieces around to make the shots work. Plus the script was written without any regard for a true game. You should see the original we made 10 years prior on super 8, all shot from one angle, I should post it really.

  • btw, i don't think this video is bad or anything. In fact it's one of my favorites. 5 stars =)

  • yes, it makes sense, but after the cheating move (queen's removal) the king was in his starting square and on the next scene he wasn't and nobody moved him. This is what i meant :)

also i've just noticed that the pieces were arranged incorrectly in the cheating scene (E8 should be a white square)

  • If your are going to quote "rules" then I think you missed the point. Remember this movie contains the words "this is called, Cheating".

  • that was an illegal castling.. the king wasn't in his starting square
