For the next installment on ALiVE Recordings, label boss Tom Budden steps up to deliver the goods.
This is the first of Tom's '3-D' Series. Three singles, each with 2 remixes from ALiVE favourites and regulars, making three sets of three, all released three weeks apart, taking us up to the landmark 20th release. 3 definitely is the magic number!
Kansai is Mr Budden's first single since last years smash 'The Tree Dance' which put the label on the map and won fans across the board. Influenced from a recent trip to Japan, 'Kansai' is deep yet driving, in typical Budden style. The funked up live bassline rolls things along underneath Tom's trademark shimmering stabs and a choppy vocal. Clattering snares and Japanese drum hits build the intensity before the well placed drops do the damage.
First up on 3-D remix duties are ALiVE favourites, Jet Project from Belfast. Fresh from recent releases on Get Physical, Renaissance, Darkroom Dubs and ViVa, they give Kansai their own quirky, chunky treatment. Twisting the vocal, throwing in some horns and some serious bottom end thump the boys turn this into bumping tech monster.
The second remix comes from label regular Teva. This is his second outing on ALiVE under his Teva alias. His last single "You Can't Teach This" for us amassed a staggering amount of positive feedback. If you liked the housey vibe on that one, you are going to love this!
Keep your eyes peeled for part 2 of the 3-D series. Tom's track "Grabbing At Straws" gets the treatment from 'Safari Electronique' boss 'Arnaud Le Texier' and 'Recyle Records' head honcho 'Santorini' from Italy.
