it is supposed to be made with patron xo and bailey's or any other irish cream liqueur you may have. also, you should not chill it with ice because it waters it down and the bailey's will not rest on top of the rest of the shot.
if you put the patron xo in the cooler, it turns into a syrup so i wouldn't recommend doing that either.
if you really want to be fancy, use a maraschino cherry to aid you in properly layering the shot. cheers.
but i thoght irish cream has to be chilled most of the time because it contains milk and milk spoils easily but i really dont know but i always have my baileys in the firdge and it tastes better that way than room temperature baileys and ice

yeh i like it cold from the fridge to but most places just keep it out because its used quite regularly. Then adding ice is more common
