It has all the standard camera functions like:
-shutter speed ( 1/30 - 1/200 s)
-aperture size (3,5 - 11)
-manual focus ( 0,5m - inf.)
It's fully automatic, the shutter "charges" when you pull out the main part. Writing on the case says KIEV 30M. It also has some pretty good lens.

  • The Киев (aka Kiev) was a copy of the Minolta 16mm camera that was made by Arsenal in Kiev, but over time it got re-engineered in every way possible. The one in this video is a Киев 30M and uses bigger film than the Minolta (13x17mm unperforated). The 30M was made from 1987-1989.

I just bought a Киев 30 for one of my friends as a Christmas present. Mine was made in 1982. You can check what year yours was made in by looking at the first two numbers on the serial number.

  • Thanks for the info! Mine was made in 1990 then.

  • it was small back in it time, todays digital cameras are alot smaller tough.

  • it would be very small even if it was a digital camera :)

  • Where can you get 16mm film for it and how do you load it?

  • I think in Poland we have such shops where you could find this kind of film. Shops where their repair old photographic equipment. Don't know how to call it.

Loading is very simple. At about 0:33 I take out and open the part where you load the film.

  • @sharpanator -Yes, but the difference is that the Minox cost more than 100 times a Kiev, if I remember correctly...... When I bought (in 1980 about) my Rollei XF 35 to 130,000 £, the Minox cost about 1,000,000 £ (£ = old Italian money)

  • About 15 years ago I built an accessory that reduces the width of the normal roll film 24x36 in 13x17 mm. I tried to take some shots and it works perfectly.

    Киев

  • what i mean is that this is old Film kamera, maybe from the 70s. Todays digital camera can be alot smaller and thin like a bankcard. My father has an old "minox" film camera similar to the model in the video but even slimmer and better quality.
