Wireless Open Air Boston Application

The Boston Wireless Network needs an application that enhances its social value and in turn spurs interest in its development. The proposed application will be an extensible sensing system that is capable of monitoring valuable information and making it available through the internet. Our extension will sense the state of parking spaces (available or occupied) and display their status on a map based user interface. It will be possible however, for third party developers to create extensions that allow other data to be monitored and made available. The final deliverables will consist of a wireless device capable of sensing and transmitting data, an application capable of interpreting and storing the data, and a data driven website for interacting with the data.
