  • @ peychologistpannist & Jahlani102192...........you folks had a big argument there..

@jahlani strumming is for players you cxant handle the music....guess you are one of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • aw man you guys did good I wish i could have been there to see it but i was stuck in maraval :((((

  • I not passionate about my band but more about music as a whole...Im just saying that im used to some strumming in there to give the music a more full sound and although composers use their preference the fact that his preference is to use more melody etc and less strumming makes the band sound kind of empty but thats just my musical preference...I think music sounds fuller with chords

  • Jahlani...I know you are passionate about your band, but learn something important...there is ABSOLUTELY NO CRITERIA that says you have to use the middle instruments to strum..that is a West band habit..Boogsie, Holman etc. Port of Spain bands tend to use the middle instruments for counter melody/harmony etc as you pointed out. There is no 'right' way to do it. It is just a matter of preference. Listen to both Renegades and All Stars over the years and you will hear what I am talking about.

  • I played Vengence in 08 and there was more music than wat may meet the ear to you but i digress...The melody is very strong but you dont really hear much chords it seems like the background are playing runs and countermelodies when there should be some nice powerful strumming going on there...just because I may be a youth doesnt mean I dont know music and I need to be taken seriously

  • Jahlani..get serious nah man...when you can analyse the 2 pieces and present, I will take you seriously. Are you a youth? How long you listening critically to panorama? You realise Phase 2 whole arrangement that year was actually 3.5 minutes of music with everything played twice? *steups*

  • Acutally if my ears arent sensitive enough to hear then there is a HUGE whole in the song....Phase 2 was full of music that the judges can actually HEAR which is why they one. Is true there is a melody but thats all there is..Melody and Engine Room is all that can be heard

  • Rubbish! If its one thing you can say about Smooth is that the melody is ALWAYS present in his arrangement...unfortunately, some ears are not sensitive enough to hear, or they get carried away by the frontline to not hear the whole piece. This was as clear a winner as there ever was. Thunderstorm on pan!

  • they didnt win because phase 2 has more music..the song and band are great but their music tends to sound empty at times

  • Winnig is just something a few people decide. These guys have a degree of difficulty and I appreciate what they are doing. This arrangement rocks!
