Catla, The Monster Indian Carp

Fishing in Powai Lake (Mumbai) for Catla, catla catla, the only member of genus Gibelion, of the carp family with a large protruding lower jaw. In term of brute power, Catla is one of the best game fish of India. This fish was landed using method feeder rig on a size 6 hook.

thanks rufanuf1, ... We do practice catch n release in India. As per maximum weight of Catla, it can only grow up to 80 lbs (not recorded till date) and as per your version of 80 Kg, I think you are referring to Siamese Carp. Two in a day is good catch. A very tough fish to catch.

Cool stuff...good too see catch and release sport fishing in an Indian city! The Catla can grow to 80kgs....how many do you catch in a days fishing?
