you look so much like Jennifer Garner. I bet you hear that all the time.

Your stuff is so entertaining--and above all FUNNY. I crack up multiple times watching your posts/entries/vlogs. So clever.

@rhythm7a I did -- but I decided I wanted to be a preschool teacher. Basically making as much as I would if I got something related to my English degree.

I thought you were an English major? Anyway, I definitely don't envy daycare workers, demanding and like you said, low paying and often thankless.

I never realized how important early childhood education was until I saw a video (from Rocketboom) about how much it impacted disadvantaged families in South Africa. Do you know about any of the long-term effects that result from lack of early stimulation?

@far2long Actually, there is this downright horrible situation that happened in Romania a few decades ago. These orphanages were so overcrowded and underfunded that children basically got the basic necessities...that's it. They never left their cribs, never were spoken to, never even got a hug. All the children were mentally retarded with severe emotional problems.
As for early stimulation, most normal everyday interaction provides sufficient stimulation, given the child is loved and nurtured.

@curtis222 In Massachusetts, children are required to brush their teeth if they are away from home for more than 4-6 hours.
It's obnoxious, especially when you consider parents who decide that, since their kid brushes their teeth at school, they don't have to do the work of having their kid brush their teeth at home.

Did you deliberately omit what I imagine would be the most unattractive aspect of the profession, when dealing with children 1-5 ... toilet training and/or mishaps.

@PerthPete1 Haha that's actually nothing compared to the behavior management issues. I'll take a pair of peed-in pants over a tantrum or meltdown or a child who exhibits next to no impulse control.
