I can't help but think that the name Barthomew Collins sounds a good deal like Barthhalomew Cubbins in the book the 500 hatys of Barthomew Cubbins. Also dr suess found this movie "warped beyond reconision". Perhaps Dr seuss intended the boy hero to be Barthomew Cubbins.
