Buddy Bolden's Blues

My version of another old standard. Definitely a work in progress... I learned this from a Steve James DVD: http://www.stevejames.com/merchandise.html But I never could get anywhere near as good as he plays it. This is a mix of some of what I learned from him and some stuff I threw in up the neck. The Blind Blake style stumbled thumb roll is currently the bane of my fingerpicking existence. I'm not really even trying it here. Just stumbling in other ways.

@waistslide exactly! i always keep this guitar tuned down a whole step 'cause then i get the wonderful ability to sing in weird keys like Bb and F while still playing in easy keys like C and G! :)

I must agree with you: it's a work in progress. But you got a great swing and a deep voice. It sounds really cool , with a few technical mistakes, but really good on the essential things. Keep on it, congratulations!

This is great, Mike -- the guitar part doesn't sound exactly like Steve James, but it does sound just fine, and the break you added really fits in nicely. Excellent vocals, as well.

This is really cool. Obviously, the guitar work is lovely. Maybe I'm bad at paying attention, but I can't remember a better demonstration of your vocals. The higher notes sound really sweet and soulful.
