500 Brand-New Beta Tapes on the Floor - 1986!

Here are 500 - that's 50 boxes of 10 - brand-spankin' new Betamax tapes on my video roonm floor, in 1986! Two friends and I bought out the remaining Beta stock from a local electornics store when they went out of business, these cost us $2 each!

I actually split them up, gave some to friends......I think I kept 200 for myself, which probably lasted me only a year....I was blowing thru tapes really fast back then!!

Good thing you can still get new Betamax tapes.

You what? If you put those tapes into VHS cassettes, they would be recordable, just only if you splice a clear leader tape in to the lead.

Strangely, I heard that Scotch tapes don't last too long in Taiwan. Maybe it's the climate problem?

Was this really from 1986 or was it 1989? Its just that at the start, it says on the camera "September 1989".

Whenever I see some blank Beta tapes (Brand new) at Goodwill or wherever, I grab them all! They may not be used at once, but its nice to have them if I have no spare VHS tape, or the DVD recorder farts out again.
