Fauna & Flora International ambassador Stephen Fry talks about his strangest animal encounter when filming Last Chance To See.

Was it with the majestic mountain gorillas of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, lions in trees in Uganda, a rare and endangered insect in New Zealand or an amorous nocturnal parrot?

Stephen also explain how, with personal commitment and good science, species can be brought back from the brink of extinction.

  • Could you help me? Which animals is he talking about?

(Sorry, English is not my mother tongue.)

  • He mention lions in Uganda, mountain gorillas, weta (insect species endemic to New Zealand) , and the Kakapo parrot.

  • Weta's are like a giant cricket bit don't fly and grow to the size of your hand

  • Fry mentioned also an endangered insect in New Zealand - it urinated on his hand and he found he was allergic.

  • That is a very surprising and inspiring story. I can not imagine what it must have been like, to try to bring back a species with precisely -one- fertile female and -no- males!

    "Two seconds to midnight" indeed!

  • If he can not understand stephen fry verbally, I doubt he will understand you non-verbally :(

  • Absolutely brilliant!
