the galloglaich (pronounced gall oglay) are basically scottish highland mercenaries. most scottish galloglaich used two handed swords..the irish galloglaich used axes a lot more often from what ive read....also no kilts at this time..just long tunics..the highland scots didnt use leggings much or pants...and were then called "redshanks"..the border horsemen are scots that live near the border of scotland/england and were good mercenary cavalry
