My favorite styles are jazz and fusion. Listening to country, classical, Indian music, and rock can teach you different things about technique. I solo and comp well, but I really want to learn more about the whole chord-melody world of Joe Pass, George Van Eps, Lenny Breau, and Ted Greene. Really good chord melody players seem to have the broadest command of the guitar.
That was awesome. Really inspires me to hit the chord books and start banging them scales again so I can play smooth like this. soulful and inspiring :)
@futuredyrdek That is utterly ridiculous. Rap, Hip-Hop and all forms of modern 'black' music stem directly from roots in Jazz, Funk and Blues. Rock n' Roll was the way in which white culture stole and cannibalized black music, and has continued to this day. Think for a minute, whilst rock continues with the same old majors, minors and the occasional 7ths, how could it possibly be that it's to so-called ignorant rap musicians that are using complex chord arrangements?
i'm transcribing this - old school. by listening :) thanks

Teenage maybe. I'm a hardcore rock fan, but this song is one of my favourites. Infact I'm trying to learn jazz, best way to improve guitar skills.

@AeronJL I have nothing against rap music, but i've yet to hear a rap song that uses a complex chord arrangement.
