Latest New York City Transit rescue plan still includes a fare hike. 8 percent. 2002 it was 67 for a 30 day monthly unlimited use metro card. It is now 81. If it goes up 8 percent it will be 89. We need to call these State Senators and tell them no fare hike what so ever. Include 3 cent gasoline hike in the plan. There will be enough money for no fare hikes. Employee raises. No station agent cuts. We should have some service increases. We wher promised service increases after the last fare hike that did not happen. New bus route serving the lower East side. Bus Service increases. Call these State Senators and tell them no fare hikes what so ever. Include 3cent a gallon gas tax as part of the plan to increase bailout money. Call these State senators even if you do not live in their districts. Call them every day till we get a complete bailout plan. State Senator Ruth Hassel Thompson 718 547 8854, Albany office 518 455 2061, State Senator Pedro Espada 518 426 6858, State Senator Keven Parker 718 629 6401 Albany office 518 455 2580, State Senator Ruben Diaz 718 991 3161, Gov David Patterson 518 474 8390, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver 212 312 1240, State Senator Carl Kruger 718 743 8610, State Senator Dean Skelos 516 766 8383, State Senator Hiram Monserate 718 205 3881albany office 455 2529, State Assemnly Man Dov Hikend, opposes bailout 718 629 6401 Albany office 518 455 2580. New York city transit riders save 2 billion gallons of gas from being burned. 100 million pounds of less polutants from going into the air.

  • And I fully agree, fair hikes shouldn't be going up and up, why doesn't MTA move up and on to electric vehicles (replace gas/diesel buses) such as trolley buses?

It would save a hell of allot more money and they wouldn't have to refuel anymore. Gas SHOULD be as a backup case the vehicle dewires and could only BE used until re-wireing is possible.

  • The Mta should use Trolley buses. I feel they should buy the trolley buses Edmontan has. The ones they have in storage, and the ones they have running. Run them on 3 routes here. Buy new trolley buses to run 3 additional routes. Philadelpia is opening trolley bus routes. TTC is considering restoring theirs.

  • I noticed the mic volume not being high enough, I had to deal with it when I used to use internet cafe's before getting an ISP and computer.

In flash player, right click and click settings, select the mic tab (mic logo) and drag the volume while speaking forward until the meter shows red, then you won't have to hold the mic right in front of your mouth to actually be heard.

  • Your right, I will do that. The video fell in the right place. I think I will get a lot of views here.

  • Hearing of rate hikes and service cuts always makes me wish we had public transportation as good as what they have in Hong Kong! Or ANYWHERE in S.E. Asia! I live in a town of only about 300,000, yet here, they decided to fix something that wasn't broken. They cut 20% of our bus service, and raised the fares anyway. It's been a nightmare for those effected so far. keep fighting the good fight!
